A little glimpse into the history of our community...

Retha and Jim Robichau put together this early history of Colonial Estates before the residents began the purchase process, which is described in the Colonial Estates Story section.

This is a short story of the development of our community, Colonial Estates. Much of this information came from park residents and Paul Ouillette, the former community owner. We hope, as you read through this story and view the photos, that you will fondly remember many of your friends and the good times we’ve shared in the past. Or, if you aren’t familiar with Colonial Estates, you will learn about our community and what makes it a special place to live. We sincerely hope you will enjoy this reminiscence as much as we did putting it together. ~ Retha and Jim

In 1984, a homeowners’ association was formed by residents of the community. The homeowners’ association developed into a social organization, with elections held every other year, association meetings monthly, and various entertainment events throughout the year. The community center is the focal point for activities in the community. In 1999, a bocce court was constructed. This was financed by community members and Paul Ouillette, who at the time was the community owner. In 2000, horseshoe pits were installed, and in 2001 a dance floor was built in the community center.

Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about the history of our community. We look forward to expanding our story as a resident-owned community!
